Dave is a good boy.He is seven years old,and it’s time for him to go to school.But Dave has a shortcoming.He can’t get up early in the morning.He sleeps until nine or ten o’clock in the evening.

Dave’s mother bought him an alarm clock.She said to Dave,“You must get up when you hear the clock ring.”

“Yes,Mom.”Dave said.And from then on,Dave got up when he heard the clock ring at six thirty every morning.

One day,his mother forgot to wind up the clock. And the next morning,Dave didn’t get up at six thirty.It was time for breakfast.Mother went up to wake up Dave.Dave was lying in the bed and his eyes were open.“I woke up early,”said Dave.

“But why didn’t you get up?”Mother asked him.

“The clock doesn’t ring.”Dave said.
